You spent hours editing it. They watched 45 seconds and moved on. Here is why.
The highlight reel as most players construct it is actively working against them in the Spanish market. Not because the clips are poor quality. Because what gets selected tells a Spanish coach almost nothing about whether the player will function in their system.
What You Send vs What They Need
Players choose moments of individual brilliance. Dribbles, goals, skill moves, physical duels won. Impressive footage. And it answers none of the questions a Spanish technical director is actually asking.
They want to see how a player behaves within a team structure, not how they perform with space and momentum. The qualities they look for (body shape, off-ball movement, pressing behaviour, positional discipline, decision-making in tight spaces) are almost never visible in an edited highlights package.
What an All-Touch Video Shows
Spanish scouts call it an all-touch video. Every moment a player interacts with the ball across a complete match, compiled in sequence. No music. No transitions. No editing for impact.
This footage shows the full picture. Good decisions and bad ones. Movement off the ball. Reactions to losing possession. The qualities that define whether a player functions in a system, and whether they are ready for the Spanish game at the level being targeted.
THE TWO VIDEOS YOU ACTUALLY NEED
Video 1: Full game, unedited, recent competitive match, minimum 60 minutes
Video 2: All-touch compilation, every ball contact from one complete game
Highlights length: 3 to 5 minutes maximum, sent second, not first
Music: None, ever
Transitions: None, cuts only
Recency: Within 6 months, older footage signals you have plateaued
The Bottom Line
Stop optimising for impressive. Start optimising for informative. A full-game video from a competitive match, unedited, tells a Spanish coach far more than fifty highlights from twenty different games.
If your full-game footage is not strong, that itself is useful information about where your development focus needs to be. The scouts know what they are looking for. Give them the footage that shows it.
